Church Fairs November 15-16, 2019

If you are like me, you enjoy checking out some of the great church fairs that happen all through the holiday season. Here are just a few to get you started. 

Olde Time Christmas Fair
St. Andrew Church, Colchester
4 p.m-8 p.m.  Friday
9 a.m-2 p.m.  Saturday
Bakeshop, handmade goods, kid's corner, crafters, baskets and more, Christmas gifts, teacup raffle, turkey dinner.

Festival of Angels Fair
St. Francis of Assisi Church, Middletown
9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Crafts featuring hand-blown glass ornaments from Poland, baked goods, farmer's market, jewelry boutique, raffles, and a variety of local artisan vendors.  

Christmas Bazaar
St. Mary Church, Stonington
9am – 2pm
Christmas crafts and items, jewelry, fresh floral arrangements, handmade crochet and knitted items, baked goods, Portuguese sweet bread, soup and chili.

Holly Jolly Christmas Fair
 All Hollows Church Moosup
8 a.m to 2 p.m.

St Mary Magdelen Oakville
9 am to 3 pm
School gymnasium. Themed baskets, raffle items, granny's attic, vendors, Breakfast and lunch offered. 


Mystic Holiday Boat Parade on November 30, 2019

Named as one of the Top 5 Best Holiday Light Displays in New England by Yankee Magazine!


Santa Claus is coming to town and so is Mystic’s Holiday Lighted Boat Parade in Historic Downtown Mystic on November 20, 2019.

Santa arrives at 2 p.m. on a 60’ tug boat and is greeted by a large crowd in Mystic Park.  After a brief break, festivities in the Park resume with the lighting of the Christmas tree at 6 p.m.  and the 13th annual Lighted Holiday Boat Parade will begin a few minutes later.

Don’t miss this spectacular show of lighted boats. The vessels will parade down the Mystic River from the Mystic Seaport at 6:20 p.m. and return to the Mystic River Park, where spectators and judges will be gathered. 


Boats will be judged in a variety of categories, see their website for details.

The only cost to enter is a donation of a toy, coat, or food item for the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center.

If your sailboat, powerboat, dinghy, or high-speed rowboat is still in the water, light your vessel, and please join them your chance to dazzle the judges.

St. Bernards Church Rockville will hold their Christmas Bazaar on Friday 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch and dinner is available. Come to see their baked goods, attic treasures, crafts, books, toys, jewelry and Christmas collectibles.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in New Hartford will have their annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

St Margaret Church Madison 17th Annual Craft Show Fri. Nov 8 5-9p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.Friday evening ladies shopping night with wine and cheese. Free coffee for shoppers on Saturday.

58th Annual Farmhouse Fair will be held at Ellington Congregational Church, 72 Main Street in Ellington on Friday, November 8th from 5 pm to 8 pm and on Saturday, November 9th from 9 am to 2 pm.   Gift and decorative items include traditional Raggedy Ann & Andy Dolls, Christmas Shoppe, Quilt Cupboard, Fabulous Fibers, All Things Animal, Grandma’s Shoppe, plus Homemade Baked Goods & Cookies and hand-craft items. Pasta dinner  Friday 5 pm – 7 pm. Chicken a la King and cranberry salad on Saturday from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m

First Congregational Church of Stratford Holiday Fair and Tag Sale Friday, Nov. 8, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Craft vendors and items for sale including books, jewelry, gift baskets, holiday decorations, Cabot cheese and more. Santa will be on hand on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Bake sale items will be for sale as well as meals and refreshments, including breakfast, on Saturday morning starting at 9:00 a.m. First Congregational Church is located at 2301 Main St., Stratford.

Biscotti and Beyond Fall Schedule 2019

In the warm months, Simonne Mularski sells her biscotti and cookies at local farmer's markets. Now that the weather is getting colder do you have to wait until the weather warms up again? Absolutely not.

Biscotti and Beyond is open and producing delicious biscotti just about every day of the week. Fall flavors include pumpkin, gingerbread, maple walnut and apple caramel.

First Town Downtown and presenting sponsor Windsor Federal Savings are getting ready for “Nightmare on Broad Street”. It's a Halloween family event. A Halloween movie will be showing as well as hayrides, a haunted bus ride and trick or treating for the kids. Broad Street will be closed to vehicles.

Don't forget to get your picture taken with the Halloween Ghoul. Costumes are encouraged.

Halloween at Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport

Sunday, October 27 from noon to 3 p.m. welcome to Boo at the Zoo.your favorite animals will be available for viewing. 
Children under 12 in costume accompanied by an adult get into the zoo for free. 

Harvest hayrides are available for $2 per person. Take part in the crafts, listen to storytime and your favorite animals will be available for viewing.
