Join the costumed guides on a twilight tour of this historic property! Lanterns will lead you through the dimly lit corners of the house & transport you to the time before electricity illuminated these homes. Light refreshments will follow the tour. 

Restaurant Review: San Souci Restaurant and Lounge Meriden

We first went to this restaurant many years ago with our friends Andrea and Chuck, we had a nice dinner but then probably because it is a little far away, we never returned. What a mistake that was. We were missing out on such a delightful place to eat.

We have been back three or four times in the last couple of months and trust me, if it was closer we would be there every week!! Every meal that we have had there has been a generous portion and delicious food.



When you sit down you will be given a bowl of jicama and some crostini to snack on while you are deciding.

On our first visit I had lamb chops, the second I had a lobster roll.





This last time I had Cold Strawberry and Japeleno soup and baked scrod. All of them were exactly what I wanted at that given moment.



Al had the steak, which though not large was full of flavor and tender. On our last visit he had the St Louis style ribs, he cleaned his plate.

I have only had dessert once, I had their carrot cake and a cappuccino and it was very good. We have never had anything that we even remotely weren't satisfied with and our service is always wonderful, friendly and quick.

I can't say enough good things about Sans Souci restaurant. My only gripe is that they are closed on Monday and I went there once not knowing that and was very disappointed.

Motor Cycle Mania Middletown

13th Annual Motor Cycle Mania

August 15 at 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Main Street, Middletown, Conn. Proceeds from the event benefit Middletown Youth Programs. There is a $10 entry donation and $15 entry donation for award bikes.

Rain Date August 22. 

Spectator parking: You can park in Middle Oak Parking Garage (access it on College St.), Melilli Plaza Parking Lot (access it on Washington St. or lower Court Street) or Washington & Broad St lot or Broad Street lot (access those lots on Broad Street). Parking is free for the event.

Lyman's Orchard Sunflower Maze

Its that time of year again, the Lyman's Sunflower Maze opened on July 28th and will run to August 26. The maze is open from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.

Admission: $10 
$5 for ages 4-12
Free for Children 3 and under

Connecticut Renaissance Faire Lebanon

This year is a special year for the Connecticut Renaissance Faire, this is the 20th Anniversary. I love this fair, I remember first attending it at the Woodstock Fair Grounds. This year it will be at the Lebanon Fairgrounds for seven weekends beginning with Labor Day, Sept 1, 2 3. 

Each of the weekends has a theme:
Sep 1-3                Pet and Marketplace Weekend
Sep 8-9                Pirate Invasion Weekend
Sep 15-16            Fantasy and Romance Weekend
Sep 22-23            Wizards Weekend
Sep 29-30            Bromance and Brew
Oct 6-8                Time Travelers
Oct 13-14            All Hallows Weekend

This is great fun for the entire family. Lots of entertainment, great food and lots of fun. Feel free to come dressed for the occasion. 

The faire opens at 10:30 a.m. and is open until 6 p.m., come and plan to spend the entire day.
