On Friday evening, Al and I took the 7:45 tour. Parking was available behind the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center. You can enter through the back door and take the elevator to the first floor where the check in desk is.
After you check in, it is requested that you do this 15 minutes early go and have a drink of warm or cold cider and a cookie before gathering to take the walk.
All the tours are capped at 20 people so the tours are manageable. You will be doing quite a lot of walking, much of it on uneven ground in the cemetery so wearing appropriate shoes is important. If you have problems with uneven ground or stairs, this is not the tour for you.
The tour moves along at a pretty good clip, there is a lot to hear in just one hour. We seemed to be the oldest people on the tour so maybe not for the elderly especially since you are walking around in the dark. One thing we wished we had done was to bring our own flashlight.
I would highly recommend this tour. It was extremely informative and the people (former residents) that we met on the tour all had a very interesting story to tell. The tour is new every year so we can safely do it again next year and not hear the same stories.
Sounds like an interesting evening out! I love this stuff
