Rosy Tomorrows Danbury, Conn.
Last Thursday I met one of my friends for lunch in Danbury. Why Danbury you ask? Because we picked a place that each of us would have to drive about an hour to reach. I was in charge of choosing where we had lunch. I have never eaten in Danbury but a quick Google search brought Rosy Tomorrows to my attention. I liked to look of their menu which had lobster sliders among other things. Got to love a place with lobster sliders right!!
They have been around since 1980 and that alone says something about them. You can't survive that long with bad food or service.
You walk in through the back and a caboose. It is very charming. We actually parked across the street. Tables and umbrellas are set up in from of the building.
We had a large booth since there were five of us. Our waitress was adorable. Young but knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the "wally" wings and a side salad with their citrus cranberry dressing. Al had a French dip with mushrooms, caramelized onions and melted provolone cheese. It was served with curly fries.
My friend ordered the sweet potatoes fries which looked really great.
I love the wings, it was a generous portion and the sauce was addictive. That salad dressing was one I will try to duplicate it was light but full of flavor. Al loved his French dip.
I also had a cappuccino with my meal and then we shared a piece of key lime pie for dessert. It was very good key lime pie!!
I loved Rosy Tomorrows. I can see stopping here whenever we go down to the cottage.

Plan B Glastonbury should have been Plan Z
Yesterday, after getting a massage in Harwinton, we decided to meet up with John and Jack in Glastonbury. Did I forget to mention that Kasey was with Al and me? We have eaten at Plan B many times and usually are quite satisfied. This time was an exception.
The Good:
We were seated quickly and got a bowl of very delicious homemade pickles. This is something new and we loved it. We got our drinks quite quickly.
The Bad:
It was the food and service that turned out to be the bad. My salad was good, I love their light lemon dressing. But my lobster sliders were so lacking in butter or even butter taste as to be dry!! Who wants a dry lobster roll? Not me. Kasey's was exactly the same as mine. The fresh cut fries are not fresh cut onsite, the texture says frozen fries.
Jack's chicken tenders were totally tasteless, how can crispy chicken coating be so tasteless? Al ordered the mac and jack and it is something he has had many times, it was good as usual but so salty that he complained and he loves salt.
The worst was the service. You should never have to sit for 10 minutes with a bill trying to get your waitress to take your payment. It also took way too long to get the bill and the leftovers packed up.
The only words I can use for this visit are disappointing. When you are paying $68 for lunch, you expect to have good food and good service. We got neither. It will be a while before we will visit here again.

Review: Bye Bye Birdie at Goodspeed
Bye Bye Birdie opened last week at Goodspeed. It is a revival of a classic Broadway show with the addition of two new songs not in original score. It is a trip down memory lane for anyone who lived though the 1950s and 60s.
Conrad Birdie (he is Elvis like) has been drafted and his agent needs to turn that into a money making opportunity. Thus begins the story.
Some of the songs are very familiar, "Put on a Happy Face" is one. Other are less familiar but just as catchy " A Mother Doesn't Matter any More".
The cast had a lot of energy and there is definitely dancing and running in the aisles. The two female leads, Tristen Buettel as Kim and Janet Dacal as Rose both have very strong and pleasant voices.
If you appreciate a nostalgic trip through the Elvis years of fan frenzy and pelvic gyrations, you will love this show.
It was an enjoyable evening of entertainment and if it doesn't quite stand up to the last show "Anything Goes" it is still worth going to East Haddam to enjoy.
